Introduction to Bushcraft, Cortijo El Saltador
This exciting five day bushcraft course is designed to show you how rewarding and enjoyable bushcraft can be. We invite you to join our campfire and experience the pleasures of living outdoors.
During the course, our skilled and experienced instructors will lead you gently into the amazing world of bushcraft teaching you some of the core skills to live comfortably outdoors. The course is fantastic for those who have never carried out any bushcraft before or are unsure about the outdoors. The gentle pace of the course gives everyone a chance to learn the skills and practice them while taking in the wonderful desert landscape they are surrounded by.
These skills include:
- discovering various methods of fire-making, management of fires and how to cook over a fire
- making and living in shelters using both man made and natural materials
- how to stay safe and healthy in one of the most challenging environments on earth
- how to use axes and knives
- how to find and purify water in the desert
- learning about the many useful trees and plants around us, discovering wild foods and medicinal plants
- an introduction to navigation and tracking in the wilderness
- discovering the desert’s wildlife
The course will be set in the beautiful surroundings of Cortijo El Saltador. This stunning rural retreat centre is located close to Europe’s only true desert and the beautiful Natural Park of Cabo de Gata. This will give us an opportunity to really hone our skills and practice them for real in one of Europe’s true wildernesses.
This bushcraft course will not require any specialist equipment. However a full kit list will be supplied on receipt of your deposit.
The cost of the course will be € 495 per person, special rates available for children. This includes all meals and accommodation at El Saltador as well as camping out under the stars.
